Who or What is HTD?

So if Paul Jordan (sometimes known as PJ) is the owner, why isn't it PJ Painting or Jordan Painting or something? What does HTD have to do with anything? HTD stands for...

Harold The Dog!

We adopted Harold, our 2.5 year old dog, along with our 2 three-legged cats, from a fantastic San Francisco organization, Pets Unlimited. Harold inspires us every day – even when he gets in a little trouble – see our logo!!

Harold's Story
Harold was abandoned in Golden Gate Park, tied to a tree, with  extremely bad burns from the base of his head all the way down to his hind leg.  He had an "E" collar (big cone) around his head with some expensive medications taped to the collar. San Francisco Animal Care and Control got a call about this abandoned pup and brought him to Pets Unlimited, which has a 24-hour Veterinary Medical Center as well as a Shelter and Adoption Center.

It just so happens that my wife, Erika, supervises the Pharmacy and Lab there and fell in love instantly.  For days I heard about this dog I "had to meet". When she finally convinced me to come in, Harold was in a large kennel with his "E" collar on, hardly able to move and doped up on meds to take away the pain and itch of his wounds. He looked so pitiful. Erika said, "Let's foster him so he won't have to stay in the cage looking all sad."

Fostering this early meant round the clock care, compressing his wounds and applying burn cream twice a day and pills – not fun for him or us.  He kept us awake for the first 3 nights and we both worked the following days.  He had such separation anxiety early on that we couldn't even take out the garbage without him having a melt down. I was ready to snap.  But Erika stayed strong (as women often do) and the rest is history.  I am thankful we stuck it out and that he feels so much better.  He is by far the best dog I've ever known and the most balanced well natured loving animal of all time.

Now he goes by Harold The Dog, HTD, The T, and My Buddy! Harold is a dog about town.  He loves meeting new dogs and new people.  He loves to be on trail and hike, loves the beach and of course, chasing a tennis ball or hunting gofers (he's never caught one). Besides running around in circles, or "doing the crazies" as we like to call it, and being outside, he likes to be lumpy in bed and will spoon for hours.

Also thanks to my wife, Erika, he puts up with all kinds of poking and prodding – cleaning his ears, cutting his nails, etc.
Harold gets to go with her to work most days and is her lab assistant when she needs to train someone on how to draw blood or shave for a catheter. He really does put up with a lot and gets rewards accordingly.
